Popular Baby Names 2009

Posted In: Baby Name by Infant Care

Names are a very interesting part of worldwide culture. Each name has a meaning behind it, and many names are taken from well known literary works, including famous books and religious scriptures. Every year, there is an organization that makes a list of the most popular baby names from the previous year and publishes it so that soon-to-be parents can get an idea of what some of the most popular baby names are and see which ones they like. There are websites that show the popular baby names 2009 has seen so far already, and the results seem fairly accurate. If you or someone you know has had children recently, you may see one of the kid’s names show up on the list of popular names.

The popular baby names 2009 list is organized in an easy to read fashion. First of all, the list is divided into two columns – popular boy names and popular girl names. It’s always fun to look and see if some names show up on both lists – which actually happens from time to time when a gender neutral name becomes popular over a short period of time. Secondly, the names are listed from more to less popular in descending order. Whether you want to pick out a name that is extremely popular or only fairly popular, there are tons of great names to choose from.

The boys list, for some reason, tends to change a little slower from year to year compared to the girls list of names. But don’t worry, there are new popular names that show up every year, including on the popular baby names 2009 list. Topping the list this year are names such as Ethan, Jacob, Noah, Aiden, and Jackson. Other interesting names that show up in the top fifty include Mason and Wyatt. And many lists include hundreds of great names to choose from – so if you’re having a baby boy, you’ll easily be able to pick out a name that you like best.

The girls list of popular baby names 2009 is topped by the names Emma, Ava, Olivia, Isabella, and Madison. Most of the names this year towards the top of the girls list are names that have been towards the top of the list before and are now moving back towards the top of the list after a period of brief downward momentum.

If you’ve been looking around on the internet or through various baby names lists and you see a different collection of baby names that show up as the most popular baby names for 2009, it’s because baby names fluctuate on a daily basis! Reports of popular baby names vary from one to another for many reasons. If the lists are compiled on different dates, for example, the one updated later may have more accurate information. Also, some reports combine all spellings of a name, while others rank each name spelling separately. Nonetheless, these lists of most common baby names are a really valuable resource for those who wish to pick a quality name for their children. Even if you don’t choose one of the top names based on popularity, you’re sure to get some great ideas from looking around!
