While traditional educators still persist on saying that coloring pages are good for kids, the generation now would rather have the online coloring pages for kids. Even parents are veered to agreeing with the children because the internet offers a wide variety of choices when it comes to online coloring and art activities.

Apart from that, the kids themselves find it convenient to do their creations on the computer, and if on travels, parents could just print the coloring pages for kids and take the paper pieces and crayons on trips.

Let’s face it, the internet has advanced the skills and imagination of kids, particularly in creating, drawing and coloring. Providing all these education benefits are adult professionals who have a great understanding of the kids’ interest and educational needs. That is why these adults have a lucrative career because more and more parents are asking for more advanced coloring pages for kids. While the adult creators are providing the venues and tools for the kids to heighten their eye-and-hand coordination, coloring and art, the kids’ too are helping these adult creators found out more about what the kids need.

The kids are not just limited to coloring pages for kids these days as they explore drawing and animating online as well. But topping all these is the definitive interest of kids on the cartoon characters they wish to spice up with the colors of their choice, whether online or from printed papers.

Many websites now offer coloring pages for kids ranging from the basic to the more complex. They offer this difficulty level types of coloring pages so that it will be the young ones who can test their ability and push their limits as well. Other websites took it a few steps further by offering interactive coloring pages where the young ones can put their imagination in place along with their sharpened skills and creativity.

For the basic coloring pages, most of their materials can be printed off and parents just have to get ready with those crayons, markers and paints at home. This can prove very exciting for the kids because they are actually holding the coloring materials and learning the techniques on their own. Other sites require the kids to color on the computer itself which could prove daunting for the first-timers. But soon after, the kids, too, would sure love doing the coloring with the computer mouse, clicks here and there, and expanding their choices at coloring pages for kids.

Apart from the coloring activities, there are other informative and educational activities where children can learn from online. But more importantly, the kids are prodded to sharpen their imagination, understand color combination and movements in coloring, and the limitations presented as well. Truly, these sites offering coloring pages for kids are good partners in educating the young and inspiring their creative side.

Safe Toys to Put in a Diaper Bag

Posted In: baby toys by Infant Care

Free Guest Post by Valeri

Nothing is more important, when you are out and about with your little one, than having everything you need in your diaper bag. Beyond the obvious diapers and wipes; you want to have a few toys for baby as well. There is a lot to keep in mind when choosing the right toys for your diaper bag, but safety is arguably the most important thing.

When choosing safe toys for your baby’s diaper bag the first thing to take into account is the age of the child. Most toys have a manufacturers’ age recommendation and warnings regarding choking hazards or potential injury. Take these seriously.

Babies tend to put everything in their mouths. Because of this, choking is a huge concern. Choose toys that are too big to be swallowed. New mom Jennifer follows the toilet paper tube rule: if it can fit in a toilet paper tube, it is small enough to be swallowed. Also, ensure there are no small pieces attached that could easily come off and be swallowed.

Button or glass eyes on a stuffed animal, wheels or knobs, and attached price tags are all potential choking hazards. Remember to also keep balloons, plastic (from wrapping) and Styrofoam away from small children, because if aspirated, they cannot be dislodged with the Heimlich maneuver.

Inspect all toys carefully for durability. Make sure there are no loose pieces, broken parts, sharp, pointed or jagged edges to avoid scratching and punctures. Toys with stings or cords are a potential strangulation hazard, so these should also be avoided.

Make sure the paint or finish is non-toxic and not peeling, and make sure the toys have not been recalled. A good way to do this is to check with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

You want to select toys that will stimulate all of your baby’s five senses. Choose toys that are either black and white or brightly colored for newborns. Sherri likes the black and white foot rattles for her two month old. Find toys with different textures like the soft baby blocks with different surfaces on each side.

Amy enjoys the soft baby books that fit nicely in her bag. Lastly, don’t forget rattles and squeaky toys that make soft sounds for hearing stimulation.

Finding safe baby toys that will help your child develop and that are also safe isn’t difficult, and can even be fun if you do your research.
