At 38 years old, Tracy can’t get over the thought that she will be a grandmother in less than nine months. Her only daughter who’s only 18 years old is giving birth soon. She lives with her for she’s a single mother and she wanted her baby’s baby to feel welcome once he/she is born to this world. She is planning to convert a spare bedroom into a baby’s room. This is her gift to them. Can you give her suggestions on how to design it?

Definitely, Tracy will make a great and wonderful grandmother considering the fact that she cannot hide her excitement for the coming of her grandchild.

What about you? Do you have plans of having a baby’s room in your house? If yes, here are some ideas on how you can convert a room into a baby’s room, the inexpensive and practical way possible:

1. Foremost in mind, consider your working budget. The materials and renovation of the room depends solely en the amount you are willing and able to spend for it.
2. Once the budget is settled, consult your daughter on the design you have in mind. It is wise to consider also her design options and ideas. Compromise is the key word to get around with a practical and workable design.
3. Choose light, bubbly and lively colors for the color scheme of the walls. If wallpaper is your choice, there are a variety of colorful and playful designs which can suit both sexes. If you’re not sure on how to install it, it is best that you hire a professional wallpaper installer to do the job.
4. Provide ample ventilation and lighting inside the room. Avoid placing too much accessories except for the essentials like a side worktable, a side table where you can place necessities like instant milk, spare milk bottles, medicines, pampers, etc.
5. Place a special corner inside the room where the new mom and her baby can bond together. Put a rocking chair where she can feed her baby or simply put the baby to sleep.

Is your child refusing to drink milk? Or taking just a few sips after some prodding? The problem may not be the mix. She may be suffering from milk taste fatigue syndrome. Don’t fret! It happens to children and adults alike.

One excellent option would be to offer her other sources of calcium, protein, and vitamin A – such as cheese, yogurt, or milk-based treats like ice cream. But, since your child needs the nutrients in milk on a daily basis, how do you ensure that she continues to drink it? Variety is the key. Here are a few ways you can change your child’s milk-drinking routine for the better.

Sweeten It

Make her milk even more appetizing with some sweetener. Watch out though, because too much sugar, which can cause tooth decay, isn’t good for her either. You may want to introduce honey to her discriminating taste by using it in place of sugar.

Pair It

Do you give your child just a glass of milk with nothing to go with it? Consider serving a siding of cookies with her milk – today chocolate, tomorrow peanut butter. Some yummy breakfast fare also goes perfectly with milk, like oatmeal and cereals.

Shake It

Children’s objection to milk usually stem from the taste – or lack thereof. Add some zest to your child’s milk by mixing in fruit like mango or banana to make a healthy fruit shake. Sometimes, as a treat, you can even add ice cream to the mix. Watch her slurp away and ask for more!

Chocolate It

Kids just love chocolate! Allow her a little indulgence. Serve her milk with a little chocolate poured into the mix to give just the right tickle to her palate.

Your kids don’t have to outgrow milk drinking. Explore the flavors they’ll love without compromising the nutrition they need.
