Fisher Price is one of the leading baby toy making companies in the world. They supply over 5 million baby toys a year, which is a substantial amount for a company. However recently a lot of people have been asking me are Fisher Price products safe. My friends know I have many of their products, yet they have heard bad things about them so I am going to tell you my experiences with Fisher Price.

I have 3 main fisher Price products. A highchair for my child, a bouncy chair and a game which I play regularly. I have owned the highchair for about 3 years. During that time, I have had to re screw in one screw, and that’s due to my child being hyper around mealtime and rocking back and forwards. Apart from that its treated me very well and has posed no problems. The very high chair I have, went through a lot of criticism once because people said they broke easily. I can tell you now after almost daily usage for around 3 years it is still working in fine condition.

The baby bouncer I have owned for a bout a year and a half. Again there had been a lot of criticism about this product saying that the support structure often gave way, and thus the baby hit the floor. I have had nothing but joy from this. Not only does it put my baby to sleep when he sits in it, he also enjoys being in it and playing with the toys that attach. I haven’t yet had a single fault with this product.

Although a small puzzle, still a good buy. Not along to go wrong with these I suppose, but it has done me well the last 10 years! Still all looking good and the picture has not peeled away from the actual pieces yet so that’s a good sign.

As you can see although only a small section of their products, I believe them to be safe for Our Babies as they are all very well made and have lasted me so long. I believe the media hype up all the bad points about Fisher Price and do not bring out the good points enough.

One of a parents’ main concerns is the safety of their baby. It takes some thought to realize some of the potential dangers to your baby. Making your home safe takes some good thinking and planning, and this gets especially true once the baby is crawling and walking. These are not things that should be learned by trial and error, it’s too dangerous. Not all homes are alike, so all these tips may not apply, but they will give you some good things to think about and point you in the way you want to go.

Purses are something to watch for. Babies love to fiddle with things inside of purses, even if it belongs to someone else who just may be visiting. Of course, there are things in purses that babies should not get hold of. Like pens, make-up, nail files, medications, etc.

Cleaning becomes a little extra important, since babies are on the floor a lot and will grab things put them in their mouths. Keeping things safely up where the baby can’t reach is a good rule to follow. It’s easy to focus on something else for a few seconds, while the baby uses that few seconds to investigate something it shouldn’t. Things like mop buckets should never be accessible to your baby.

As far as the furniture, anything that can be turned over easily by the baby should be fixed in a way that it can’t, or it should be removed. Make sure the high chair is not against walls or anything that they can push off from and use as leverage, maybe turning themselves over. Anything with peeling or chipped paint shouldn’t be exposed to the baby.

When checking out every room in the house, do it from the perspective of the baby. Try to think like them, and envision what they may do. Get a floor level view if necessary.

Breastfeeding mothers like to keep the baby in the bed with them, rather than putting them down in a crib. There are a few baby safety tips to keep in mind here as well:

(1). Never let them sleep in the adult bed by themselves. We know they can fall off the bed, but sometimes people don’t think about them getting caught where the headboard and mattress meet, or the bed and the wall.

(2). Some people will lay their baby on their stomachs to sleep, but the proper way is on their back. It’s been thought that SIDS may be linked to putting babies to sleep on their stomach.

(3). If the baby is under a year old, to avoid suffocation, use securely fitted sheets. And DON’T use comforters, thick quilts, thick blankets, or pillows.

(4). Ensure when your baby’s sleeping, it can’t fall out. A bed rail is very handy, but if you don’t have one, put one side of the bed against the wall, and be sure to sleep on the side without the wall with baby in the middle. And babies should be between parents and wall, not between the two adults.
(5). Feather beds, beanbags, water beds, or soft mattresses are all bad ideas. A good firm mattress is the best for your baby.

(6). Parents who use alcohol, or are on medication, shouldn’t let the baby sleep with you in the bed. You are putting your baby at risk if you do this.

(7). Things like pillows, stuffed animals, or blankets are potential hazards for strangulation. They are suffocation dangers as well.

(8). Falling asleep with the baby on a couch, or a puffy sofa or chair are also places where the baby may end up wedged in and suffocate.

(9). Having too many people in the same bed with as the baby is not good. Make sure if you’re sharing the bed with other children that there is adequate room for both the comfort and the safety of your baby.

I hope some of Baby Safety Tips above could help you out to care your little angle.

Traveling with babies and toddlers can be a hard challenge no matter where you are headed to; new parents especially find it hard and overwhelming to take care of babies while they travel. Traveling via airplanes can be even more of a hassle for which you need to be duly prepared since there are very limited solutions present on an airplane in case you have a problem.

The first thing is to make and maintain a list of things you will need to take and the preparations that need to be done. It is advisable to try and arrange a non-stop direct flight to your destination, so that your baby will have to go through lesser amount of discomfort. Direct flights allow babies to have more uninterrupted sleep, you will need to install/uninstall the baby car seat only once and the ear pressure during landing and takeoff will have to be endured by the child only once. Secondly, it is imperative to plan ahead for your trip; make sure you have adequate time before the flight date to get together all the required things that you or your baby might possibly need. Planning ahead efficiently will also allow you to get a good night’s sleep before the departure date. This sleep is important to energize you for the long and exhausting trip with your baby since you cannot be expected to get a good nap during the flight.

Try to maintain the baby’s feeding and sleep schedule throughout the trip. This will help the baby to adjust to the changed environment quickly. If you are a breastfeeding mother, you may want to make sure you are able to breastfeed in public comfortably and regularly enough; it is a good idea to use a nursing top for this purpose. A baby can also be given formula/breast milk feed during takeoff and landing to reduce air pressure; for a toddler or an older child, you can always use cotton plugs or earplug to relieve the pressure. Taking the baby’s car seat with you can be a debatable topic, avoid rental car seats. Your baby is bound to be safer in its own car seat rather than in your arms throughout the flight. It will also assist you in eating food and getting your rest.

Handling a baby car seat is easier if there are two people; before boarding, one can board earlier and install the car seat so that when the other arrives with the baby, you don’t cause any holdup in the passenger line. While installing the car seat, you may need help from a flight attendant since airline seatbelts can be hard to tighten. However, it is a must for you to carry a pram or baby stroller since you cannot possibly carry the baby through the airport, flight terminals etc. without exhausting your arms. Strollers also make connecting flights much easier for parents. At the gate, you can always ask the gate agent to give you a gate check ticket for your stroller. This way you don’t have to handle the stroller through the flight and you can pick it up just after you get off the plane.

Another important asset while traveling with a baby or toddler is that of a carry-on bag that is spacious and can act as a purse, briefcase and diaper bag. A backpack or a large bag with ample pockets and comfortable straps can serve this purpose. Make sure to carry enough baby gear such as diapers, snacks, wipes, a change of clothes for the baby and you, a few disposable feeding supplies like bibs bottles, feeding cups etc. and a few toys to keep the baby entertained through the flight. This multi-purpose bag should also accommodate your flight tickets, passport, identification and any other essential items you may need on board. For toddlers, you can keep coloring books, crayons, toys and even a portable music player if possible. Before boarding the plane, you should try to make your toddler use the airport bathrooms since they are roomier and more comfortable.

Flying with babies and toddler does not remain hard for parents and especially first-time mothers who follow a few of these key points essential to make the trip bearable and comfortable for you and enjoyable for your baby.

You can easily buy baby car seats online through Dependable car seats website.

Just because you have a baby doesn’t meant that you should be held captive in your home. It is only natural to want to travel, plan vacations and outings outside the home where you can safely take your baby along. The truth is that although a bit stressful, exposing a child to new environments, people and situations can be rewarding and a much needed break from the routine. You can travel with your baby! All you have to do is follow certain traveling with baby guidelines, make the new experience as relaxing as possible for your baby and stay aware of dangers and hazards.

Take a quick look at this traveling with baby checklist and you will see that you really can plan a vacation with your baby and ensure that he or she remains safe and happy! Remember that it is always better to be safe than sorry and just a little fore thought goes a long way!

The Top 14 Things to Consider When Traveling with Baby

 1. Bring your family medical records with you. If you have newborns, chronically ill children or elderly family members make sure you have complete information for them so a new doctor can review them if necessary.
2. Stock a small bag with necessary medications like Advil, Tylenol, decongestants, bulb syringes etc.
3. Make sure that you carry enough prescription medications for the entire length of the trip. May be good idea to bring copies of prescriptions with you in case they are lost and carry these items on your person rather than packed in bags.
4. A well stocked first aid kit is a must have baby safety product. Pack necessities small enough that they will fit in your purse or small bag.
5. If you are leaving the country, invest in travel insurance or if you already have it review the policy.
6. If you are flying and need a flight attendant to heat your milk bottle, make sure you check the temperature before feeding. They may not know what the proper temperature should be.
7. Baby wipes and disinfectant hand wipes are a must have necessity when traveling anywhere. Keep them in your purse; car and anywhere you may be in need of a wick clean up.
8. Keep disposable diaper bags or small trash bags so you can rid yourself of soiled diapers safely and without imposing on other travelers.
9. When flying, make sure you pack enough formula, milk and snacks for your baby as airline food is often unpredictable.
10. When flying, breast or bottle feed your baby on take off and landing to help reduce the pressure on their ears and keep them calm.
11. It is never advisable to fly with a baby while sick. Airline air is notorious for spreading more illnesses. Have a check up before a vacation.
12. Books and magazines are a great way to occupy a weary little traveler.
13. Have children use the restroom before boarding the flight. It is very difficult to fit more than one person in the airline bathrooms and can be hard to change diapers etc.
14. If you are traveling with a bay book the bulkhead seats. These give you more room and offer space enough for a bassinet.

Be Patient & Calm When Traveling with Your Baby

Certainly your child will react a bit differently when they are not in their regular environment. Give your child some time to adjust and try to ease the transitions as much as possible. In the days leading to your departure, try to think of everything that could happen and plan accordingly. You will probably not need any of these extra things, but if you do – you will be glad you have them. Remain calm and enjoy your vacation. Keep in mind you are making memories with your child.

It is essential that baby cribs are safe. After all, we entrust our babies in them for long and unsupervised periods. Check to see that you’ve followed these crib bedding safety guidelines before laying baby’s precious head down to sleep.

1. The right stats

The acceptable international safety standard for baby cribs bed advises that the space between the bars be between 50 and 85 mm (two to three inches). This measurement is believed to pose the least danger for tiny arms, legs, and heads from getting caught. The crib mattress should be firm, with less than 25 mm between it and the baby crib bedding all around. This is to reduce the risk of your baby getting caught in the gaps if he rolls over in the night.

2. Breathing space

Babies less than 12 months old are still at risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) so it’s best to do away with superfluous bedding material that can suffocate. A pillow for his head is still a nonessential item as infants have no dire need of them. It may cover his face during the night and obstruct his breathing. Keep his beddings simple, comfortable, and cool. Use cotton fabrics, few padding, and no clutter.

3. The right spot

Keep the crib an arm’s distance away from electrical cords, power points, curtains, large open windows, doors, a thermos of hot water, and chemicals. Set his crib in a quiet, dimly lit spot that’s easy for you to get to in the night. You’ll have a better night’s sleep knowing baby is safe and sound in his crib.

4. Toys and other bedfellows

Your baby doesn’t need his entire toy collection in the crib. A beloved teddy bear is okay but make sure it will not cause suffocation or choking. Do not leave your baby alone with his milk bottle propped up on a pillow. Unsupervised, he may choke on his milk. Sadly, many deaths have resulted from this scenario.

The sunny US state of Florida is home to roughly 750,000 swimming pools. It is also where drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in children 4 and younger. In a country that lists drowning as the most common cause of death for children under age 5, Florida carries the highest record of drowning incidents. Perhaps it is statistics like these that account for the growing popularity of baby swimming classes around the world. Parents head for enrollment as soon as the little ones learn to hold their head up.

Still, experts give no guarantees that early lessons will save a 14-month old that has just fallen into the water. Parents shouldn’t think that just because a kid can swim, he or she can be left alone in the pool.

Making the pool safe for your Children

The most effective deterrent to drowning is still constant adult supervision. The need for this is magnified a hundred times over in families that have their own pool at home. There is another line of defense that lowers the risk of pool-related accidents – childproofing. The trick is to make the pool area off limits to eager swimmers when a parent or any responsible adult is unavailable for lifeguard duty. There are several ways to achieve this.

1. Fence it in. Build a fence at least 5-feet high around the pool, or at least in areas with direct access to the pool. Avoid the chicken wire variety or designs that encourage climbing. Install a self-closing, self-latching gate, preferably one that only a grownup can open. Clear the fence area of objects a child can use to climb over it.

2. Cover it up. Invest in a cover that conceals the entire surface of the pool. You can probably have one custom-made by a tent manufacturer. Have metal eyelets installed along the sides of the cover and secure these with rope or clasp to the edges of the pool. Make sure the cover is secured tight over the pool to prevent a child from crawling under it and getting trapped.

3. Keep rescue gear handy. Store life preservers, kickboards, a rope, and a pole in a place that is easy to reach (but not by curious little hands).

4. Keep the pool toy-free. When not in use, the pool must be cleared of toys, floaters and other items that could draw children to the water.

As a new parent, keeping your baby happy and safe is your new life’s mission. Nothing is more important and you will do whatever it takes to make it happen. To an inquisitive little baby a house is fraught with danger, so baby-proofing your home is paramount importance.

First, you’ll want to start with the crib. Since your newborn will be spending most of its time there, this is a good place to start.

Decorating the crib can be cute but refrain from hanging anything over or above the baby crib. If these should be come dislodged your baby could be seriously injured if it fell on them.

Mobiles make for great baby entertainment but only hang them from the sides of the crib or crib rails. Since mobiles are made up of small parts and could choke an infant, keep them elevated and out of their reach.

Make sure the crib mattress is at the right height and that your baby can’t reach and climb over the rails. Lower it if you have to.

Keep unnecessary objects out of the crib and allow for plenty of space. Too many blankets, pillows or stuffed animals can suffocate a baby or cause overheating which can lead to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). And when you put your baby to bed, always remember to put them on their back to reduce the risk of SIDS.

As your child grows and develops, he will be spending more time out of the crib and gleefully wandering about. Some safety precautions that are easy to implement include the following:

Window Guards: Screens alone will not prevent a child from falling out an open window. Install guards that screw into the window frame.

Furniture Restraints: Children can become very adept at climbing so use anti-tip restraints or secure furniture to the floor or wall. An open drawer will attract any child who could pull a dresser down on them very easily. Keep furniture away from windows also.

Stair Gates: Install stair gates that bolt to the walls to keep your child from falling down a staircase. Gates that use spring pressure against walls can easily become dislodged and are not recommended for blocking off a staircase.

Kitchen Cabinets: Keep all cleaning solutions in cabinets up out of the reach of prying little hands. Install baby latches on cabinet doors. It’s also a good idea to keep garbage pails out of sight behind latched cabinet doors also.

Bathroom: Same as kitchen cabinets. Install latches and keep all cleaning solutions out of reach. Keep the toilet covered with the seat down. Toilet latches are also recommended. When bathing your child, never leave them alone in a bathtub full of water!

Door Knobs: Baby door knob covers are recommended to keep your child from opening doors and “escaping” to wonders unknown. Closets can also be extremely dangerous if opened. Using special baby knob covers will keep them from entering any unwanted areas of the house.

Electrical Outlets: Tiny fingers have a way of getting into the smallest of places. Be sure to install outlet plug covers in all your outlets and keep electrical wires covered and out of reach.

Tools & Sharp Objects: Always keep these out of reach and locked up safely in a tool box or latched drawer. A child can do severe damage to themselves with scissors or any other pointed or sharp object.

These are just a few simple steps that you can take to help make your home a safer environment for your baby. But the most important tip of all, is to NEVER leave your child unsupervised. Be vigilant in your care and never lose sight of what is important… your baby!

Do you have baby crib bedding in your house?
I think most of parent from middle to higher wealth in economy purchase baby bedding crib for their first baby. With baby bedding crib, they could left their baby inside the crib and could doing another home work if they do not have baby sitter to nurse their baby.

For any parent who already have and parent who decide to buy baby bedding crib soon, please careful for Crib death (SIDS) to your baby safety. Some research in england reported that crib death is come from baby mattresses and another stuff in common baby crib bedding which generate some Toxic gases which come from the fungal activity on Phosphorus and arsenic compounds in that baby mattresses.

Here are some Faqs about Crib death (SIDS) from StopSIDSNow:

What is crib death (SIDS)?
Crib death (SIDS) is the most common cause of infant death in many Western countries. In most cases the baby has been put down to sleep in his or her crib and later found lifeless, with no sign of illness or physical struggle. Crib death can also occur in other situations which parallel “crib situations,” or which are sleeping environments, for example: strollers, carseats, playmats, sofas, and adults’ and children’s beds.

And How You could prevent Crib death (SIDS)?

Here are some baby crib safety tips from expert to prevent Crib Death (SIDS) in your Baby bedding crib:

Why I ask you that silly question?

I ask You because a few days ago about 1 million baby bumbo seat have been recalled from their seller and retailers like Wall-Mart Store and Target Corp.
The Baby Bumbo Seat which produced by Bumbo International of South Africa being recalled because 28 reports of baby/toddler who fallen from the baby seat.

US Consumer Product Safety Commission(US CPSC) said that those baby/toddler fallen from the baby seat because the baby seat has not been placed in the proper place, the children fall from baby bumbo seat because the seat was placed on the table or other elevated surface.

The Baby Bumbo Seat owner said that accident should not be happen if all the consumer/parent read carefully the safety warning which included in their baby bumbo seat package. Like you can see in their official baby bumbo seat below:

So I think, this accident could happen because parent not aware with their baby safety. They do not read the safety warning from the baby bumbo seat product. I give the Bumbo Manufactur two Thumb Up, because they have make a quick respond with their baby bumbo seat safety by recall all of their baby seat product and make some modification and update the safety package of the seat.

If you are fan of Baby Bumbo Seat, let’s wait for the new update of their product and hoping that the new generation of baby bumbo seat will more safe to our children and make our baby always comfort and smile on their baby seat.
