There are many cases in which infants experience newborns acid reflux. Several medical experts identified it as a stomach pain. Parents and guardians have to be wary of common signs of having newborns acid reflux; but the most common among these symptoms is discharge especially after meals. Although parents should not conclude right away that their child is suffering from infant acid reflux just because of seldom occurrences of spitting.

Normally, mild symptoms of newborns acid reflux disappear after seven months. LES or Lower Esophageal Sphincter valve originated as muscles and is situated at the bottom of the esophagus, and a passageway to the stomach.

LES valve enables the food to go inside by providing an opening. Afterwards, it breaks and carry on what is inside the stomach. The role of this valve is crucial because when it breaks down, all that is inside the stomach will go back to the esophagus.

Acid reflux in newborn baby usually occurs to infants with ages six to eight months. It is important that this kind of ailment is detected early in order to prevent any aggravation of the said condition.

These are some of the common symptoms of infant acid reflux that a mother should be wary of:
• Difficulties in swallowing
• Having some trouble in feeding
• Eating inadequate amount of food with occurrences of spitting and burping.

The good thing about newborn acid reflux is that it can be prevented if detected at an early stage. It has to be remembered that breast feeding is the most healthful food for a newborn baby. Breast feeding decreases the level of acidity in toddlers.

Aside from this, breast feeding is also a wonderful means for a mother to bond with his child. The advisable method of feeding the infant is through giving him small quantities at fixed intervals. With this method, the digestive system of the infant will not be pressured; thus, decreasing the acidity level. It is also recommended to let the infant burp so that the acid will be released from the stomach.

Another important piece of advice is to regularly interchange the position of the infant while sleeping; that way, the chances that the food will be pushed back from the stomach to the mouth are decreased.
Proven researches presented that an infant grows better when fed by the breast milk of the mother. Some would question the capacity of breast milk to nourish the infant and prevent newborns acid reflux from occurring and so, medical experts suggested that this method can be modified and improved as well.

By doing such, experimentation will play a big role. Medical experts recommend that mothers experiment on whether how much food should have to be taken by their newborns in order to stay healthy and immune from certain diseases like newborns’ acid reflux.

Mothers should also be cautious of the proper position in holding an infant while breastfeeding. It should be done in an upright manner to keep the milk from going back up. Newborns’ acid reflux can also be prevented through feeding less but in a frequent manner.
